Cardiff Gin Club Gin Tasting on Flat Holm Island

Gin Camp on Flat Holm Island – 2017

So this summer we set out on a gin fuelled of voyage of discovery on the Island of Flat Holm. For those not acquainted with Flat Holm Island, it is an island 4 miles off the coast of the Vale of Glamorgan and in the middle of the Bristol Channel.

There’s a lack of public transport and Uber drivers willing transport people over to the island so we only had one option of getting there… a RIB speedboat! We teamed up with Bay Island Voyages who zipped us over on their boats.

There was a choice of trips with the 3 hour Gin Express featuring speed boat ride to Flat Holm Island and straight into a gin tasting and masterclass, where our guests sampled gins from:

  • Tappers Gin – The Darkside Gin and 3 Fine Days Gin
  • Drumshanbo Irish Gunpowder Gin
  • Bertha’s Revenge Milk Gin

Everyone had the chance to pair the gins with a selection of garnishes and a large range of tonic waters from Fentimans, such as:

  • Light Tonic
  • Grapefruit Tonic
  • Botanicals Tonic
  • Rose Lemonade

Guests then had a chance to either check out the Island Lighthouse, Fog Horn and Military history in the form of old gun batteries and cannons dotted around the island or join us in Wales’ most southernly pub The Gull and Leek for a G & T or two before heading back to Cardiff Bay.

For the more adventurous gin connoisseurs and those with a penchant for nature there was the Gin Camp with a chance to join us camping overnight plus a bit of the above with gins from:

  • That Boutiquey Gin Company – Spitroasted Pineapple Gin and Moonshot Gin
  • Drumshanbo Irish Gunpowder Gin
  • Bertha’s Revenge Milk Gin

With the option of camping and being picked up at lunch time the following day gave everyone a chance to explore more of the island, we cooked some food on some bbq’s and had an epic breakfast on the beach with a fire in the morning followed by marshmallows and some gin spiked pineapple kebabs.

Yin and Gin – Gin Yoga Event in Cardiff at The Studio 7th July 2017

Our first Gin Yoga event in Cardiff was a huge success at The Studio. Guests were welcomed into the epic venue with a Sloesecco featuring a Welsh Sloe Gin from Condessa in Anglesey.

Yogi Bare took our guests through the motions with her yoga session whilst hydrating with a Gin and Tonic.

After the eagerly awaited Gin Yoga class finished, we delved into our latest editions to our gin collection.

We showcased the whole Whitley Neill Gin range starting with the JJ Whitley London Dry Gin with the yoga class.

Next up was Nettle Gin, Elderflower Gin and finished off with Masons Yorkshire Tea Gin.

We didn’t stop there with the recently launched and most popular Gin’s of the night Whitley Neill Quince Gin and the striking purple bottled Rhubarb and Ginger.

A BIG THANK YOU TO OUR SPONSORS ON THE NIGHT WHO DONATED TO THE GOODIE BAG
